Write On
The process of writing has been near and dear to me ever since I was a child. I have vivid memories of my parents gifting me with a small, pink and white diary when I was merely a young girl, only seven or eight, as a birthday present. Even though my writing abilities were limited, I appreciated having a place for my private thoughts, whether I wanted to share my fun times spent roller skating, or share thoughts about a cute boy. From that point my journey as a writer only expanded as I created stories, wrote poems, magazine articles, and more. Today, writing is something I cherish as one of the most valuable forms of entertainment and expression.
To me, writing is a work of art - the level of appreciation, interpretation, and acceptance to be gauged by each and every individual. Isn't that the wonderful thing about all creative outlets? With the overall accessibility to technology, I am grateful to have the opportunity to self-publish my work. I am one among countless others, who likely share the same gratitude.
My first book is nearly ready for release. It's provided me with a (mostly) fun avenue to be (somewhat) productive during a tough segment of layoffs in education and the general economy. After finding myself unemployed, with limited to no opportunities for a job as an English teacher, writing empowered me with a sense of purpose and fulfillment I had struggled to find and reestablish. My books are no master literary works; however, that is not the/my point. Finding personal meaning and satisfaction is a far more important and in-depth experience than worrying about outside judgement or criticism. Love it or hate it write on, everyone.
